Nominations are open!

  • Feb. 8th, 2016 at 9:29 PM
Space Swap is a multimedia exchange for space fandoms of all sorts, including television series, movies, and books. The only criterion for a fandom to be eligible is that it somehow be related to SPACE.

As with past years, we'll be running this along typical exchange lines: participants will sign up with requests and offers, will be matched via AO3, and will receive an assignment. By signing up, participants agree to make a fannish creation for their assigned participant. In turn, someone will make a fannish creation for them.

Everything is going to be staying pretty much the same despite the change in mods. The only slight difference is we will be allowing up to 8 Fandom Nominations instead of 6.

Nominations are now open! Here at this link: http://archiveofourown.org/tag_sets/1125

The Schedule for this year's exchange will be as follows:
Nominations: 8th Feb - 22nd Feb
Sign Ups: 26th Feb - 11th March
Assignments: 14th March

Would you mind stripping the text formatting out of your post?

ETA: Thank you! That's so much easier to read now. It was showing up as tiny black-on-black before.

Edited (To reply to the mod for fixing their formatting.) 2016-02-09 12:28 pm (UTC)

The tag set is visible, but only approved tags are part of the tag set. We haven't had time to approve anything yet.

Hi there! On an old post you guys said in a comment that you don't always match on characters. I never got a response to my question about whether you could let someone know if they're going to be matched on a prompt that is for characters they did not offer, and I can't seem to find any mention of character matching here. Can you please clarify if people will be matched on characters or not?

Not a mod, but the mods keep changing the rules and only talking about it on FFA without making a post here for the community to discuss what they'd prefer:

We had second thoughts and are running under the previous rules, which do include character matching. We apologise. Please bear with us, we're new to this modding business.

I feel ya. And the character matching system is weird as heck, so I get why you may wanted to have avoided it in the first place.

As [personal profile] kalloway linked above, the mods -- without telling anyone here on this comm, apparently -- have up and decided they aren't matching on characters at all now.

Yup. Fandoms only.

And haven't actually brought it up with you folks here on the exchange comm.

As I said above, we had second thoughts and will match on characters in addition to fandom. We're sorry. We'll do better.

Yes, people will be matched on characters. In previous years, character matching has been ignored for people who would be otherwise unmatchable. We're still debating on what, exactly, to do. We'll come to you later!
batman: Wilbell and Ayesha from Atelier Ayesha (in Atelier Ayesha Bell rings you!)

Hah, yeah, I'm aware that people were matched on things they didn't offer, as I was one of them! I enjoyed my assignment but I had wondered why my offers were ignored, without asking me to add characters for matching. I'm glad you're considering options for the future!
