Rules update, more stuff

Consensus seems to be that we'll be going forward with character-relationship-worldbuilding tag matching and allowing original works, as detailed in the previous post, but we'll only lock things in at the end of the month, so please contribute! (We also made the dates more America-friendly. The exchange gets going in February.)

One question, however, didn't get any attention, so I'm reposting it:

How many fanwork types? We'll have fanfic and fanart, and perhaps fanvid and podfic, but is there anything else you would like to request or make? How should multimedia stuff be counted?
That is, we will have fanfic and fanart as requestable fanwork types. Should we have anything else? Fanvid? Podfic? (Where podfic would be either podfic an extant 1k+ fic that fits the specifications, or write and then pod a 500+ word original fic that fits the specifications.) Should we have meta as its own category?

Also, somewhat relatedly, what are your opinions on the minimum creation requirements? Ficwise, we'll keep it at 1k; do you feel that the other mediums' requirements are equivalent?

I think more types of fanworks is a good thing - for vids, maybe 45 seconds? They're a fair amount of work but I think that's long enough to tell a narrative in video format. I'm not too educated on podfic though.

The one vidder with whom I've talked about this told me that 1k or above = 60s, and below 1k = 30s. How would 60s sound? I'm aware that making a good vid is hard, but in the end, all lines are drawn in the sand. The appeal of 60s would be that it's 1 minute exactly and that makes my brain tingle, but any opinions for or against any other minimum are appreciated.

Re: podfic, we were hoping for something like [community profile] jukebox_fest does: "podfic is [..] based on the tag set, so a podfic creator, or creative team, must write and record a story of 500-5000 words based on a nominated song". That is, original podfic (with half the word count minimum as compared to fic) rather than reading aloud a pre-existing work. (We wouldn't have a maximum.)

I was originally going to say between 45 seconds to 1 minute for a vid minimum but then I decided specific opinions were probably more helpful. 60s sounds fine. :) Podfic minimum sounds fine as well.
