These two and their bickering are so much fun, especially with the underlying deep loyalty and trust they have in each other. They're both so competent and I love seeing that competence shine, and the ways they bring out the best in each other and help each other through hard situations. The way that John can always help Rodney focus when he starts to panic is just so good, I love it.

I just love the hell out of this movie, both in its spoofing of Star Trek and in its own right. It’s just so fun, and the mix of humor and genuine emotion is brilliantly done. Having grown up with classic Lost in Space (and fond of it), I was absolutely blown away by the depth of emotion and character development in this show! I love the family dynamic and the way that the characters learn to trust each other. Robot and Will learning about each other is so sweet, and the protectiveness was wonderful. I’d be into anything exploring Robot’s backstory, or set during the run of the show, or post canon on Alpha Centauri/further exploration of the universe!

• Totally optional prompts, if you want something to get the wheels turning: I've read the first three books, so feel free to pull details or plotlines from Dune Messiah or Children of Dune if desired (or later, not at all averse to spoilers). Dune's complex themes and visual motifs definitely speak to me (e.g. fate, philosophy, religion, ecology, politics/leadership, etc.) and I think there's room to do a lot with those as applied to these characters. For Liet Kynes, any kind of character study would be a delight, or maybe something about her sense of belonging in two worlds or her relationship with Chani (something I really wish we'd seen). For Paul/Irulan, I'm down with a version of events where Chani is out of the picture (as long as it's respectful to her character) or a nice tasty love triangle with Irulan as second choice, whatever speaks to you more. If you're feeling book inspiration, one bit in Dune Messiah that's practically begging for canon divergence is where Paul appeals to the Bene Gesserit to help save Chani and his offer is Irulan, artificially inseminated and banished - could go so many directions with that; regardless of whether it actually happens (and whether they ultimately reunite) or not, how would she react to that plan? Or the movie gives us that tantalizing line about ruling over the Empire together... did Paul mean that, what would it look like? I tend to prefer a slightly darker dynamic for these two, but if something softer is calling to you, that works too. There's so much to play around with for these two in terms of averting/adhering to fate, a political marriage, semi-one-sided pining, inheritance/legacy (in terms of Paul and Irulan's families/who they are or the business of an heir and Bene Gesserit eugenics), the places they understand each other or really dramatically don't...

• Totally optional prompts, if you want something to get the wheels turning: I've read the first three books, so feel free to pull details or plotlines from Dune Messiah or Children of Dune if desired (or later, not at all averse to spoilers). Dune's complex themes and visual motifs definitely speak to me (e.g. fate, philosophy, religion, ecology, politics/leadership, etc.) and I think there's room to do a lot with those as applied to these characters. For Liet Kynes, any kind of character study would be a delight, or maybe something about her sense of belonging in two worlds or her relationship with Chani (something I really wish we'd seen). For Paul/Irulan, I'm down with a version of events where Chani is out of the picture (as long as it's respectful to her character) or a nice tasty love triangle with Irulan as second choice, whatever speaks to you more. If you're feeling book inspiration, one bit in Dune Messiah that's practically begging for canon divergence is where Paul appeals to the Bene Gesserit to help save Chani and his offer is Irulan, artificially inseminated and banished - could go so many directions with that; regardless of whether it actually happens (and whether they ultimately reunite) or not, how would she react to that plan? Or the movie gives us that tantalizing line about ruling over the Empire together... did Paul mean that, what would it look like? I tend to prefer a slightly darker dynamic for these two, but if something softer is calling to you, that works too. There's so much to play around with for these two in terms of averting/adhering to fate, a political marriage, semi-one-sided pining, inheritance/legacy (in terms of Paul and Irulan's families/who they are or the business of an heir and Bene Gesserit eugenics), the places they understand each other or really dramatically don't...

Or maybe how John and Aeryn raise their son (and any future kids) as unique in a universe that has not historically been kind to hybrids. Also down for some John/Aeryn in general - love them as parents, but earlier in canon is good too. Character study for Zhaan would be a delight, I'm so curious to hear more of her backstory or just to understand the way she thinks or dive into her relationships with her friends. Pilot and Aeryn's friendship is so special to me too, and anything there would be good but if you want to combine with the worldbuilding prompt, I think it would be fascinating to consider how that relationship looks with regards to little D, who would presumably inherit his mother's Pilot DNA (after the genetic tinkering she experienced).

I do love seeing Elizabeth's rare adventures offworld, or something where she and John are back on Earth retired and reminiscing on the past... Go wherever your heart takes you. Also totally down for some character study for some of my favorite ladies (Elizabeth, Teyla, or their friendship), maybe a closer look at their lives as leaders.
