So, you have a space fandom. However, other people might not have heard of it! Thankfully, there is a solution: Tell us why your canon is the best! Here's a nice format you can use to make it easier for people to find stuff: (copypasteable below)

The canon: The canon's name
What: The medium – TV, book, anime, RPF, 5-minute (posters/music video/etc), ... Some idea of the length would also be good. Is it one book/season/movie, or is it longer?
Where: where it can be found – is there a legal free download, is it on Netflix, an Amazon link, etc
Quick pitch: Give us a brief tagline! "Sentient ants get a space program", "Space Opera detectives chasing a priceless alien artwork", "Gritty asteroid mining RPG", ...
More: Tell us all the reasons why it's awesome! What do you like about the canon? The characters, the tone/outlook, the central concept, the relationship between hero and antagonist, the prose style, anything!

Now, go forth and advertise and read the most space-y recs list this side of the Crab Nebula!

Hello Spacers!

Space Swap is under new management, and we'll be opening nominations for Round Three on Monday some time after 12PM GMT. While we iron out the wrinkles, you can promote any space fandoms of yours in the comments!

Do look at the LJ version of this post for more fandoms.

Fandom Recruitment

Welcome to the fandom recruitment period.
September 14, 2013 - October 31, 2013

This is an opportunity to talk about space fandoms with other members, rekindle an old flame or find a new love. Tell us about the fandoms you’re most interested in for the exchange. Invite members to check out your fandom, tell us about the canon and well-loved tropes, etc. What do you love about it?

Books, movies, television, comics, etc. All sources are applicable. Our working definition of "in space" is:

Some sort of intelligent beings in space at some point (before, during, or after canon) in a way that's significant to some aspect of the narrative.

At the moment, we're leaving "significant to the narrative" up to participants and trusting people will keep it in mind. But we do want people (of some sort) in space (at some point), and not just objects. So aliens yes; missiles and satellites, no.

I'll try to keep up a list of thread links in this post from both LJ & DW so you don't miss anything. :)
You can also submit posts to our tumblr if you like to roll that way.

Fandom discussion threads:

Analogue: A Hate Story
Battlestar Galactica
Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Firefly, Deep Space 9, Voyager, Farscape
Bodacious Space Pirates
CJ Cherryh, Elizabeth Moon, Anne McCaffrey
Defiance, Alien Nation
Gundam
Honor Harrington, Linnea Sinclair novels
Kiddy Grade and Kiddy Girl-and
Marathon
Mass Effect, SW:KOTOR, Dead Space, XCOM
MCU
The Neighbors, Galaxy Quest, Rendezvous with Rama
Sentou Yousei Yukikaze, Last Exile, 2001 Nights, Plantes
Space Cases, Andromeda, Firefly
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Star Trek and Stargate
Wandaba Style

Also, a reminder that this is a multimedia exchange. We've listed the common types of media in the FAQ (fic, art & vid) but will be polling the community before nominations start about other media types. At this point we're unsure how large the exchange will be, but if there is enough interest (and hence chance of matching) we will happily consider additional media. podficcers, I'm looking at you. Whatever media options we end up with, participants will have an opportunity to choose media type on both requests and offers.

OK, I think I've gone on enough -- LET'S TALK SPACE!!!!! :)
