General notes and how to post, etc.

Hiya Spacers!

A couple notes:

1) Pinch hitters -- a couple people have asked how pinch hitters can sign up. (pinch hitters are my heroes) At this time, we are not tracking pinch hitting in a separate comm or via mailing list. If the need arises, we will use the LJ/DW comms to announce pinch hit opportunities.

2) Dear Spacer letters -- a reminder that if you haven't unlocked or updated your placeholder, now is the time! If your recipient has not made a letter, you are free to run wild with the fandom/media/character. I know many people like to have prompts/ideas though.

3) Treats are more than welcome in this exchange. If your treat does not meet the minimum requirements of the general exchange, please refrain from loading it to AO3 until after the deadline so that we can make sure everyone has a full-sized gift.

4) Posting instructions -- more than you want to know about posting below.

You can find general instructions on AO3 for posting to a challenge

For those writing fic, the posting is pretty straightforward, you simply enter your text and post. For other media, please keep in mind that we have an anonymous period between 'go live' and 'reveals' so you want to try and make sure links you use don't identify you. AO3 supports embed codes from several sites, see the post embedding a video on AO3 which also discusses how to embed images and audio as well as video.

For vids, if you'd like an anonymous embed/streaming option for the anonymous period, you're welcome to use this account (not required) and then edit your post after reveals:
vimeo
email login: ao3vidders@gmail.com
password: videxchange

For image hosting, imgur.com provides image links which do not reveal the user. I'm sure there are other sites as well (tinypic.com?)

For podfic, mediafire and sendspace provide download links which do not reveal the creator. If you do not have a streaming/embed option for audio and would like one, please let me know.

Questions? Comments? Please let me know. :D

Would it be possible to request a letter if your recipient didn't write one?

Letters aren't required so we won't be asking participants to post one. Some recipients are genuinely open to receiving anything and are uncomfortable leaving details. ((I don't know if that's the case here, just experience from some participants in past exchanges))

If you'd like us to contact your recipient to clarify a prompt or ask a question about their sign up, we can do that. Please PM us details and we'd be more than happy to send your question along.

ahhh ahhh I forgot to update my letter! Is there a way to notify my person that I've posted my letter if they were worried?

Nah, I think it was probably just their HTML editor snafu'ing at me.
