I will be away from my internet connection, starting tomorrow and ending on the 18th. Please direct any queries to my co-mods

Happy creating! There are currently nine works in the collection , at least one of which is a treat. :) Treats don't have to abide by the minimum creation requirements (so a fic treat can be under 1000 words), and can be placed in the main collection.
We run it along typical exchange lines: participants will sign up with requests and offers, will be matched via AO3, and will receive an assignment. By signing up, participants agree to make a fannish creation for their assigned participant. In turn, someone will make a fannish creation for them. You will need an AO3 account to participate. You also need to be 18+ and an adult in your jurisdiction.
We'll kick off the swap with a fandom recruitment phase in which everyone can wax poetic about their favourite space fandoms in the hopes of recruiting new fans. Following that we’ll hold nominations to get a set of fandoms for our swap, and then we'll have sign-ups and be off and running!
Note on treats: They are very welcome, and don't have to to fulfil the minimum creation requirements that main gifts do.

I have great news! We've had three volunteers step up and offer to take over running this year's exchange. I'd like to introduce you to your new exchange mods:

![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)

Give them a little while to sort out the details, and then I'm sure you'll be hearing from them.
Keep your eyes on the sky, Spacers!
The poll results are in. Between the two polls, we have 11 people who said they'd prefer an exchange, 10 who prefer prompt claiming, and 7 with no preference.
In terms of what people are willing to do, we have 4 who will only do the exchange and 2 who will only do prompt claiming.
Overall, it looks like there's a slight preference toward an exchange. I'm happy to do that if we can find people to take over modding. Right now, we have one volunteer. Quite reasonably, they don't want to work alone. Therefore, please consider this the official call for mods. If we can get a second volunteer, I'll hand it over to the two of them and they can run the exchange. If not, the results were close enough that I feel comfortable running it as a prompt fest instead.
If you're interested in modding, please leave a comment!
If we don't have a second volunteer mod by January 24th, I'm going to run it as a prompt claiming fest this round.

This leaves us with three options.
1. Switch to a prompt claiming format where those who want to can leave prompts, and then people can claim them and post during a specific period. With this format, no one is guaranteed a story for any of their prompts, nor is there any guarantee that stories will adhere to DNWs. It's also a lower pressure format, with no penalties for defaulting.
2. If other people want to volunteer to run the exchange, we can hand it over to new mods.
3. We can refrain from running anything here this year.
I've posted a poll below. If you're interested in participating here this year, please feel free to fill it out. If you're interested in taking over as a mod, please leave a comment on the post.
I'm cross-posting this to LJ. Please only fill in one poll!

Below the cut is a poll soliciting feedback regarding Space Swap and the exchange we just held. The poll should be anon - I selected the option where poll creator cannot see participants answers. You're also more than welcome to comment to this post with feedback and suggestions.
If you need a refresher on how anything worked, the FAQ and the schedule are tagged in the community sidebar. As always, you are also more than welcome to contact either

We did have a couple people in need of a short extension and I've just sent an email out to a handful of folks we've not heard from. We may have some more pinch hit opportunities come midnight, so stay tuned!
We do want to give pinch hitters at least a week to create something, so the reveals may be pushed back just a tad.
We'll keep you updated.
See below for details on pinch hit #5. Comments are screened.
Please feel free to recruit/signal boost/claim. Thank you!

Right now, we have Doctor Who (1963), Doctor Who (2005), Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death, Doctor Who (Big Finish Audio), and a general Doctor Who category under television that includes characters from all four of the other categories.
At the moment, I'm inclined to leave it as is, and let people request and offer whichever versions they want. However, if you are planning to request or offer Doctor Who and feel strongly that this ought to be changed somehow, please leave a comment. (If you want it left the way it is, please comment about that too!)
The tag set is here if you'd like to review it.

You can nominate up to four space-related fandoms, and up to four characters per fandom. (We cut it back from six because we're hoping that will improve our odds of matching people up. The minimum for both requests and offers is three, so you won't be forced to request anything you don't want or offer anything you're not comfortable with.)
Please note that while we will definitely be matching on fandom and media, and will try to match on character, the final results are going to depend on what the sign-ups look like. But go ahead and nominate characters, and we'll see what we can do.
You'll need an AO3 account to participate. If you don't currently have an AO3 account, you can request one here. The waiting period is pretty short right now, so you should be able to get an account in plenty of time to nominate. If you run into problems, please let us know.
Nominations are open until December 10th.
Have fun!
We want to be multimedia but need to insure there is enough interest in a type of media that matches would be reasonable. Below are the additional media types that have been mentioned.
Please indicate if you'd offer and/or receive these media types so we can get an idea of potential volume.
Completing the poll does not commit you to anything, but we're looking for folks who are thinking of actively participating. The poll is anonymous in any case. :)
This poll is anonymous.

REMINDER: NOMINATIONS OPEN ON NOVEMBER 1ST - feel free to spread the word!
