Space Swap: Doctor Who

  • Dec. 15th, 2013 at 11:53 AM
This is a reminder that we're looking for feedback on how to handle Doctor Who in the tag set.

Right now, we have Doctor Who (1963), Doctor Who (2005), Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death, Doctor Who (Big Finish Audio), and a general Doctor Who category under television that includes characters from all four of the other categories.

At the moment, I'm inclined to leave it as is, and let people request and offer whichever versions they want. However, if you are planning to request or offer Doctor Who and feel strongly that this ought to be changed somehow, please leave a comment. (If you want it left the way it is, please comment about that too!)

Also, if you nominated a character in one category of Doctor Who and would rather see them moved to a different category, please leave a comment about that too. Sorry, this is impossible due to how AO3 is set up. Characters stay where they are; only the categories can be changed.

The tag set is here if you'd like to review it.

This is my comment in favor of leaving the current set-up. I'm more inclined to offer and request when I can specify the Doctor Who canon.

You can move them. You just delete the original version and replace it with a version that isn't wrangled and manually associate it with the proper fandom.

My concern is matching people. I mean if say participant A asked for Classic Doctor Who and participant B offered the overall Doctor Who with any characters they wouldn't be matchable. Someone would have to spend up to five offer spots just on Doctor Who to make sure they could do any.

Yes, matching is the main issue. There are definitely trade-offs either way.
