Nominations Instructions

  • Feb. 17th, 2017 at 6:30 PM
Noms are open!

Tags that do not conform to these instructions will not be approved.

Please disregard everything AO3 says on the "nominate" page. Do NOT choose the canonical versions of whatever tag you're nominating. Tags are NOT restricted to characters only. Thank you. (AO3 doesn't let mods adjust what's on the nominations page.) If you have questions, please ask!

Please check what was agreed for your fandom on the franchise wrangling post. Write the fandom's name based on what was decided there. If your fandom has not been discussed on the franchise wrangling post, use the AO3 canonical. Please avoid using "- All Media Types" tags. If you're nominating a character who's found in many canons, or a relationship with such a character, please add the fandom name in (brackets) after the name(s).

Nominating Characters
If you wish to receive a Thing centered on a character, nominate your character tag as Character: Character's Name. Some examples:
Character: Aria T'Loak
Character: Urdnot Wrex
Character: Miranda Lawson
Note: if you are nominating a RPG character whose gender one can choose (Shepard, The Jedi Exile, etc), please specify.

Nominating Relationships
If you wish to receive a Thing centered on a relationship between two or more characters, nominate your tag as Relationship: Character A/Character B if you want a romantic or sexual relationship between A and B, or as Relationship: Character A & Character B if you want a platonic or familial relationship between A and B. Alphabetize by surname. (Yes, it goes into the slot called "Characters". It's so that matching would work.) Some examples:
Relationship: Miranda Lawson & Oriana Lawson
Relationship: Urdnot Wrex/Garrus Vakarian
Relationship: Male Shepherd & Liara T'Soni

Nominating Worldbuilding
If you wish to receive a Thing centered on worldbuilding, nominate your tag as Worldbuilding: A Clear Description. Some examples:
Worldbuilding: Citadel Sewage System
Worldbuilding: Source of Cerberus' Funding
Worldbuilding: Mass Relays.

If you are unsure of what you want – say you'd like something with Ashley Williams exploring the Citadel sewage system. Would you be happier with Ashley Williams doing something completely different, or with someone else looking through the Citadel sewage system? Or, if you don't know what to nom at all, go trawl through the fandom recruitment post in search of inspiration.

If you find these instructions confusing, or otherwise wish to flail, please comment here or PM me.

Now, go forth and nom.

Hey mod(s)! I'm not sure where to leave this comment, but I typoed one of my noms and it's already been approved!

Fandom:
Voltron: Legendary Defender

Relationship: Shiro/Ulas should be Relationship: Shiro/Ulaz

Sorry!

Fixed! (And don't worry too much, we'll do some typo correction concurrently and after the noms approval period.)

Hey, you'll probably notice anyway, but some movies have migrated or duplicated to TV shows somehow: Star Trek and MCU.

Mod, I'm unsure whether it is OK to nominate The Flash TV show. The setting is Earth and there aren't aliens or space stuff, but some "maxi-crossover" episodes (where four TV shows got crossed over) have an alien invasion storyline, an alien ally (Supergirl) giving assistance and a team with a time ship that is also a space ship (Legends of Tomorrow team).

If the maxi-crossover episodes aired under the name The Flash, then yes. Otherwise, no.

The answer is yes, each crossover episode was aired following the normal single show schedule and keeping the single show titles. However, I've decided to take my nominations off, as I think both Arrow and The Flash have too little space in them for this exchange, while Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl are more latched to space themes (they have space travel the first and alien immigrations with space ships the second).

Unfortunately, that's on AO3's end. We mods can only control the fandoms and the tags under the fandoms that are in the tagset; the categorisation into media types is all due to the associations AO3 has for the fandoms.

For a character who has a radical transformation in the second season of a series, is it allowable to tag them under the version that one specifically wants to nominate? There's one who (for lack of a better description) was turned into a mecha, and that's what I'm interested in, more than the human version.

I figured I'd check before tossing in noms --

Yep! Just nom them as Character: Mecha X or however you feel it'd best describe what you want.

*grins* I squeaked them in earlier (extra hilarity, they share a name with the pilot), and did what you describe. Glad I hit on the right one!

I forgot this, sorry for asking, are crossovers allowed?

*crossovers between space related canons

Not this round.

Does this just mean we can't nominate them? For example, would it still be okay to say "Oh and if you wanted to cross over any of my requests that would be okay", with the understanding that it would be 10000% optional and no one would have to do it?

As one prompt among many, crossover prompts are OK, yes. We're just not adding them into nominations this round, so no 100% guaranteed crossovers.

I'm not sure if I should leave this here or on one of the clarification posts, but I wanted to let you know that there are two nominations for Kirk/Spock under Star Trek: Alternate Original Series - Relationship: James Kirk/Spock (AOS) and Relationship: Spock/James T. Kirk (AOS).

ETA: There's also a double under Star Trek: Deep Space Nine for Relationship: Jadzia Dax/Kira Nerys and Relationship: Jadzia Dax/Kira Nerys (DS9) and Relationship: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak and Relationship: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak (DS9).

(I'm sorry if you'd rather I not point these out, I just missed a couple duplicated on a fest I'm modding so I've been really wary of them recently lol)

Thanks! I'll remove the duplicates later today. And duplicate-removing is always good. :)
