Alphabetize by surname. (Yes, it goes into the slot called "Characters". This is so that matching would work.) Some examples:

Looks like the first one should be more accurate based on the other AO3 canonical tags :)
Just a clarification - because "Worldbuilding: Tarsus IV" is already nommed for TOS, I can't nom it for AOS. I'm actually okay with signing up for either, so can I resolve this by picking TOS in sign-ups but mentioning that they can fill for either fandom? Or do I need to find a way to add Tarsus to AOS by using slightly different wording (eg. Worldbuilding: Tarsus Four)?
I would be interested in receiving fic about a character (a main character's sibling) who is named and mentioned but never appears in canon. The writer would basically be inventing this character from scratch based on hints about the main character's upbringing. Would this be better nominated as "Character: Margaret Pollard" or "Worldbuilding: Charley Pollard's sister Margaret"?

The first one is probably the one that should be kept, based on alphabetization.
